According to the National Post, Team Canada rounded out their management staff with the addition of Pierre Gauthier, Ottawa Senator's general manager from 1995-1998.
Senate's Note: The Ottawa Senators schedule will get hard pretty quickly as they are forced to the road for the World Junior Championships being held here in Ottawa. I would not be too worried about the tough competition, the Senators have played some of their best hockey against some of the highest ranked teams this season. The problem appears to be playing against sub-par competition, the Senators seem to have motivation problems for those teams.
As far as the Ottawa Sun and their constant discussion of Mats Sundin coming to Ottawa, the odds have to be slim to none. You can wish for something all you want, but they need to look at the reality. Vancouver will offer the most money. The Rangers, Bruins or Habs will offer the best chance at winning the cup (along with a great travel schedule). The Leafs can offer a nice retirement package in Toronto. What can Ottawa offer that these other teams cannot offer? It's beyond me as to why people think he'll sign in Ottawa, it simply does not make sense for many reasons.
As for Pierre Gauthier, always happy to see a former Senator get recognition!
