Quick Hit Update: Tyler Bozak and Mattias Karlsson

Last night during the intermission of the game on TSN2, the panel named a player that the Senators were aggressively pursuing (along with every other team).  His name is Tyler Bozak and he plays for the University of Denver.  He currently has 7g 14a in 17 games this season and is a free agent.  If he were to sign a contract right now, he would be ineligible to continue playing in the NCAA, so look for a team to sign him once the season is done.

Senate's Note: I wouldn't want to speculate on this, but given the fact that Bryan Murray loves to sign guys out of college, and the treatment Jesse Winchester received in Ottawa, it is not out of the realm of possibility that he could sign in Ottawa.

Listening to the Team 1200 this afternoon, Tim Murray was a guest on the show.  For those of you who are unaware, he is the assistant General Manager of the Senators.  Paraphrasing the discussion, Tim basically stated he thought extremely highly of Mattias Karlsson and was pleasantly surprised by his transition from a European game to a Canadian one.  Karlsson is also now a staple on the power play and can shoot the puck or distribute it remarkably well.  Tim hinted that he is arguably the most NHL ready defenseman currently on Binghamton.

Senate's Note: Brian Lee is struggling to regain his form, but would still most likely get the call ahead of Mattias due to his previous NHL experience.  Other than that, it is great to see our prospects developing.  Tim mentioned that foot speed was an issue with him, but at least he has a good head for the game.
