[Wrap Up] Tuesday December 23, 2008

The Calgary Sun - Former Senators pugilist Andre Roy feels that fighting would bring the Senators closer together.  He was also shocked to see that nobody fought after Daniel Alfredsson was hit awkwardly into the boards.
"You look at Alfredsson -- he gets smoked against Dallas -- and nobody came in, did anything. He's their captain, their elite player," Roy said. "And I've been on teams like that.

"I think here, guys always stick up for each other and it brings the guys closer, for sure, because you can always rely on your teammates coming in if something happens."
Senate's Note: Nothing would make me happier than to see a Senator in a fight for a teammate.  I personally prefer the rough and tumble style of the Calgary Flames but the Senators are not built like them.  Regardless, sticking up for a teammate does bring a team closer together, and with some rumours of the Senators dressing room looking like the first boy-girl dance in middle school, maybe it isn't such a bad thing.  Penalties are never fun, but they can serve a purpose and bring a team together if they are taken at the right moment and under the right circumstances.

CBCsports.ca - Cassie Campbell gave a quick run down on what she feels the next move will be for each Canadian team.
1) Ottawa Senators - if the terrible season of the Senators continues who knows what will happen. Another coaching change is not the answer as they are on their third coach in the last season and a half. Never mind goaltending, as it has not been Alex Auld or Martin Gerber who have let the team down this year. A priority for the Sens has to be an offensive defenceman. At times this year a lack of flow out of the offensive zone into the neutral zone has been a frustrating thing to watch.
Senate's Note:  Pretty much jumping on the popular bandwagon that the Senators need a puck moving defenseman.  They need much more than that, but it would be a good first step.  That or getting a true number 2 center for the team.

Sportsnet.ca - Here's a quick rundown of who is playing in Tuesday's game:

IN: Daniel Alfredsson (probable), Ilya Zubov (visa sorted), Dean McAmmond, Heatley (probable but has flu)

OUT: Filip Kuba (groin)

Senate's Note:  The Senators are obviously better with Alfredsson in the lineup, so thats some good news.  Heatley has been struggling to score and this flu is definitely not going to help.  He probably won't have high energy levels and could see his ice time reduced.  It is still beyond me as to how the Senators let Zubov have any visa issues, but Im glad its sorted.

And thats the daily [Wrap Up]!

The sens are my boys, the problem is that they aren't each others. they don't stand up for each other and it's so f---ing lame. I don't even care if it should have been a penalty or not (even to debate that is sooooooo Ottawa) the guy should have been jumped and had his ass kicked. These guys don't care about each other, flat out. For me, that's the root of the problem. That and the lack of good d. If they had a bit of attitude, though, it would do wonders for this team. Wouldn't make them a contender, but could make them a playoff team.

Defencive coaching test Number 103? How do you pair 'em to start. Earlier in the season broke #4 & #24, that didn't work. Let's leave Bell with Smith & WATCH Picard & Schubert make errors & scramble but cover themselves with speed & effort. Who am I kidding first PK 2nd pair #21/#5... 1-0 Philly. Hope the Coaches don't rag Schub after every shift (normal), he knows he's gone & he doesn't need their justification to themselves, anymore.

I stand "corrected". #4 & #24 have been broken, this historically has been a very poor move. I predict they will realigne after 20 minutes. It looks like a replay, our rookie coaches making the same errors over and over.
