Quick Hit: Karlsson Named Best Defenceman at WJC
Swedish defenceman Erik Karlsson, who just happens to be Ottawa's 2008 first-round pick, was named top defenceman at the World Junior Hockey Championship by the tournament's directorate. While his team lost to Canada in the final tonight, Karlsson was impressive. Sens fans can look forward to his poise with the puck, smooth passing and heavy shot. At one point tonight Karlsson made a pass from his own zone on to the blade of a teammate 100 feet up the ice. It was a thing of beauty. Karlsson was also named to the tournament all-star team by the media, and was chosen as one of his team's three best players by the Swedish coaching staff.

Yep, he was pretty stellar. IMO he still needs at least a year if only to bulk up. He's tough, but just isn't strong enough yet. He just got out muscled a couple times. Still, looks like he could be a top pairing d a la rafalski in a few years.
This is at least one great move by Murray. Let's hope he gets us a few more great prospects via trades and picks for next year. The Sens need more youthful energy, skill and speed.
Hopefully if we don't get Tavares or Hedman (playing injured) we can get Kane. That dude rocks.
