The Daily Wrap Up - Friday February 20, 2009

 Not exactly what I wanted to return home to.

The trade:

SJ's 1st rounder + Dean McAmmond for Mike Comrie and Chris Campoli.

Initial thoughts: ....wait your joking right?

Then I listened to the team 1200 when Brian Murray phoned in:

He and his scouts have been watching Campoli for a few years.  

Gambled that the pick used would only return a 4-5 defenceman at best, and Campoli can already play a 4 spot on many teams.

Campoli is signed to great contract and jut coming into his own.

Comrie loved playing in Ottawa and helps address a need for this season.

Maybe we can resign him next year.

In the end, Meszaros and Dean McAmmond were turned into Comrie, Campoli, Kuba, and Pickard.  Taken in that light, not so bad.
