The Daily Wrap Up - Monday February 9, 2009

Sorry for the lack of wrapping up, just started a new job and life has been hectic!

I will be out of town Tuesday and Wednesday, but after that, normal coverage will resume.

ksfy.com - Anton Volchenkov has finally gone on the offensive. After years and years of blocking shots, he finally decided to exact retribution. Now many people will claim that it was an errant shot, but I firmly believe that it was tactical on the part of Anton. Breaking Vanek's jaw was not only strategic in that game, but could drag Buffalo down into the sinkhole of despair that the Senators are currently mired in.
Buffalo Sabres All-Star Thomas Vanek will be sidelined three to four weeks after having surgery Sunday to repair a fractured jaw.
OUCH! Maybe Anton should send over a blender, or one of those magic bullets....

sportsnet.ca - Chris Neil will be sidelined with his injury for at least 10 days and will miss the upcoming road trip.
Neil suffered a laceration to his right calf late in the second period of Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over the Buffalo Sabres. He will not make the team's upcoming road trip, which starts Wednesday in Buffalo.
10 days seems like a very short number given how long Kevin Bieksa was out when he sustained a lacerated calf.  Perhaps this injury is more shallow than deep.

and that's the daily wrap up!
