Pizza Line -I'll Take the Usual

The reuniting of Heatley-Spezza-Alfie was the best maneuver to re-calibrate the Sens, a team that lacked the genuine motivation needed for a successful NHL team. By spreading the big 3 through the team, a balanced attack was hoped to be formed, but what type of message does that send to the rest of the team? You aren't good enough. Your best players are your best players and you'd better hope that you can play with them.

Sens fans know far too well the stress put on players to perform with the superstars: the Vermettes, the Winchesters, the Kellys and even the most exciting prospect (at least at the end of his preseason) the Brandon Bochenskis, have had little luck on the Sens top line. It isn't easy to step into playing with the best who are one step faster, one move quicker, and on a different page in regards to vision. Of course some players fare better than others, however one must ask oneself what type of team should Ottawa be trying to create with the resources at hand?

- a team inspired.

What better way to foster inspiration than to have the Sens leaders act as leaders off, and equally as important ON, the ice? It is no secret that the pizza line is the core of Ottawa's team so why not let the players who can control the game demonstrate their character through both good times and bad. Ottawa's big 3 have demonstrated ability, character and leadership before and with Alfie's retirement coming closer, Spezza and Heatley also have a little more to play for.
