Friday Morning Wrap-Up

Over at Bleacher Report, a quick breakdown of who they view as being available on the Senators, and who they would they think is available in return.
Tampa Bay: Tampa seems to be wheeling and dealing a lot this season, not too sure what they want in a team. A lot of talent here, but would it be available. Martin St. Louis has proved to be an amazing player before, and he still is. He isn't doing what is expected out of him either this season.

Of course Vermette wouldn't be enough for him, so Ottawa would have to include a draft pick or another prospect.

Columbus: Fredrik Modin is 34, and I'm sure the Blue Jackets would welcome a younger player who is also not living up to expectations.

Although maybe a one for one wouldn't be equal it could happen, with maybe a 4-6 round pick coming from Columbus as well.

Edmonton: It is well known that Edmonton has not been impressed with Dustin Penner. With the size of his contract the Oilers would have to either send money, a pick or a prospect along with him to Ottawa for Vermette.
Senate's Note: Vermette and Fisher are in a slump, thanks for the obvious.  Fisher is not going to be traded anytime soon, so forget about that!  As for their "analysis" of players potentially coming to Ottawa, it seems like a wish list with no factual (or insider) information that Ottawa is interested in these players.  Beyond the obvious that any team would want Martin St Louis, it seems like the article is grasping at straws.  I am also pretty sure Eric Cole would be moved before Dustin Penner given his pending UFA status (and lack of fit).

Here is another ghastly editorial by Bleacher Report.  This will be my last time posting their "editorials".  An open source news network is an interesting idea, but these last two articles are miserable.
My theory is you have no clue how to evaluate player talent and potential and reaped the benefits of years of high draft picks in the mid-'90s.
Senate's Note:  I don't really want to delve into how the Senators got into this situation (as it is highly contested), but to begin with, the article was written by a Habs fan.  Secondly, how can you make that statement about Bryan Murray when there hasn't been enough time yet to see if his prospects will develop or not.

According to the National Post, enigmatic goalie Ray Emery is leading the KHL All Star voting for goaltenders.

Senate's Note: Ray Emery is a fan favorite in Russia apparently!? That's interesting to see that he has turned it around after all the drama that unfolded around him last year.  Here's a clip of my favorite Ray moment.  Given the Senators play of late, I wouldn't mind a little more of this.  At least it's entertaining!
