The Daily Wrap Up - Tuesday January 27, 2009

TSN.ca - Brian Murray will have a decision today with regards to Martin Gerber.
I have no idea whether [Flames general manager Darryl Sutter] is pursuing Gerber or not, but I think it's out of the question. His contract is a little heavy. If you look at contracts and players available in that position, I think that [Curtis McElhinney] is the best solution for us.
I have very strong doubt that it is Calgary making a move for Gerber, it's just that his inconsistency has removed his status as reliable backup, and I do not understand why any team would take him on in that capacity.  I have a funny feeling that Brian is projecting a suitor, in hopes that a real one will come out and make a play.

Canada.com - GM Darryl Sutter tries to settle down the trade talk and puts an end to this rumour.
We signed Curtis McElhinney to a one-way contract because he's an NHL goalie, and he's our goalie," Sutter stated. "We are not interested in acquiring any other goaltender".
McElhinney is on a one way contract, and has played pretty well this season.  In all likelihood, this rumour of Calgary being interested is going to turn into a dud.  The inquiry for Gerber most likely came from another team or never happened.  I tend to think its the latter.

and that's the daily wrap up!
