The Senators are are in a tailspin and looking for anything or anyone to shake things up. After going 1-6-1 on their "make it or break it" road trip this season, they now sitting 15 points out of a playoff spot. Last night's loss 2-0 to the Rangers is pretty much in-line with the past month for the Senators. Things are looking pretty bleak but Brian Elliot was just called up from the AHL and maybe he can be bright light to help the Senators turn their season around.
After getting off to a shaky start I thought he played a solid game and gave the Senators every chance to win the game. His rebound control looked Gerber-esque at the beginning, but as his confidence grew, he got it under control. It was nice to finally see an Ottawa goaltender with the potential to control his rebounds! Gerber must have been worried watching from the pressbox that he'll be waived, but Elliot is not the starter just yet. The Senators management will be giving Elliot enough rope to either pull the team out of misery, or hang himself.
Oh the pizza line! Not even they are scoring consistently anymore. The team's confidence is gone and the big 3 are feeling it! What boggles my mind is how Danny Heatley has avoided any kind of criticism. He only registered one shot on goal last night. Not nearly enough for a 50 goal scorer. The effort was there, but he is getting paid for finish as well.
Maybe some rest, home food and family time will rejuvenate the team.

what the heck is happening????
Two Ts in Elliott.
Anyway, the worst thing that management could do right now is panic and make a big trade. I'll be happiest if we trade the UFAs and see if we can address some of our needs at the trade deadline.
